KCF launches Kachin language class in U.S.A The Kachin Post / June 13, 2009 Mid-Atlantic Kachin Christian Fellowship in U.S.A has initiated the Kachin language class for the Kachin kids from North America, aiming to inherit Kachin literature, culture and history to new Kachin generation in western countries.
A four-days Kachin language class was organized by the Pastor Prof. Sumhka Seng Nan, Ms. Marip Roi Ji, Mr. Kareng Seng Awng and Mrs. Nahpaw Hkawn Ja. Over 20 Kachin kids are attending the class, which is held in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Pastor Prof. Sumhka Seng Nan, the church leader of Mid-Atlantic Kachin Christian Fellowship, said the Kachin language class is destined for handing over the Kachin literature, culture and heritage to new generation. It’s a model for Kachin community around the world, he said. Otherwise, in over fifty years, we would lose our generation.
The Kachin language class intends the Kachin kids to able to read and write Kachin literature & Bible, to learn the Kachin history and culture heritage, as well as to become good youth of faith in God.
About a thousand Kachin are residing in U.S.A, according the survey of Kachin American Association.
