A women in her 30s died yesterday during the clash between Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Burma Army near Washawng village in Waingmaw Township in Kachin State.
“I saw a women was shot at her home during the skirmish, Hkawng Lum from Washawng village told The Kachin Post. The women was shot at her head by the Burmese soldiers, according to the villagers.
The skirmish began when the KIA soldiers started attacking Burmese soldiers at the Waiba bridge of Washawng village. The Burmese soldiers came from Sadung town, near the Chinese border.
In last April, KIA destroyed a Burmese police toll-gate near the Washawng village. The toll gate was on the Waingmaw-Kampaiti highway, one of the main transport road to Chinese border.
Yesterday morning, KIA soldiers destroyed a fuel tanker which was reportedly transporting aircraft fuel from China to Myitkyina for Burmese Air Force.
