A fuel tanker, which is believed to transporting aircraft fuel, was attacked today by the soldiers from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State.
The attacked was carried out by KIA around 9 am in the morning near the Theological College of Waingmaw Kachin Baptist Association at the Mukchyik village, according to the local witnesses. The driver of the tanker was injured, and the vehicle was damaged, spilling the fuel on the ground.
A witness from the Theological College told The Kachin Post that he heard about 50 rounds of gunfire and a couple of bomb explosion from the attack. The injured driver and some other individuals from the fuel tankers fled into the Theological College compound.
Today’s attack is the second incident of attacking the fuel tanker in Waingmaw Township. On last Wednesday, similar attack was happened in Lamyang village of Waingmaw Township.
The damage fuel tankers were believed to be transporting aircraft fuel from China for Burmese military airplanes. Since last month, the Burmese Air force loyal to the State Administration Council (SAC) has intensified attack on KIA’s positions in southern Kachin State.
Waingmaw Township is situated 20 kilometres southeast of Kachin State capital Myitkyina.
