The new leaders and executive committee members of Kachin National Consultative Assembly (KNCA) held its 19th anniversary of founding the organization on Sunday in the Kachin State capital Myitkyina.
The anniversary meeting was hosted by the assembly’s new Chairman Rev. Dr. Hkalam Samson, who is also the current Chairman of Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC), and its standing committee members, according to the KNCA. This meeting of KNCA is believed to be the first one after the previous Chairman departed.
Rev. Dr. Hkalam Samson became the new Chairman of KNCA after its previous Chairman Duwa Lashi La left the Assembly in last April to became the Vice President of Burma’s parallel National Unity Government (NUG).
KNCA’s 19th anniversary was attended by the Christian faith leaders from Myitkyina Christian Council (MCC) and special guests.
Kachin National Consultative Assembly (KNCA) was founded on October 24, 2002 with the Kachin community and religious leaders from Kachin and northern Shan State.
