Kachin Christian pastors detained

There Kachin Christian pastors from Nogmung town of northern Kachin State were arrested yesterday by the local authorities loyal to Burmese military regime State Administration Council (SAC).

Rev. Goshen Sin Sar from the Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC), Rev. Sagawn Hti Na from the Church of Christ (COC), and Rev. Mahawng Di from the Rawang Baptist Church (RBC) were detained and charged with the article 505/a of the military regimes special penal code. Anyone who being charged the article 505/a would face three years in jail without bail.

All three pastors were being accused of spoken against the military regime during the March 3rd prayer event in town, a closed associate Ying Lawm told The Kachin Post. Now, they all are believed to be detained at the military camp in the nearby Putao town.

The Kahin Baptist Convention has recently raised concern over the arrest of three pastors, urging special request to all Christian believers to pray for their immediate release. KBC mentioned that all three pastors led the March 3rd prayer event in Nogmung.

Nogmung is the northern most town of Burma and situated approximately 400 kilometres north of the Kachin State capital Myitkyina.
