Kachin State People’s Party (KSPP) hosted a youth seminar last week to form its youth wing for Kachin State capital Myitkyina, preparing to advance the campaigning for 2020 election.

KSPP was organizing interested youth to join the party’s Youth Affairs Committee for Myitkyina Township during the two days seminar, which turned out almost a thousand youth.

During the seminar, Chairman of Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) Rev. Dr. Hkalam Samson talked about Religious Freedom, and Labya Jaw San explained Youth and Federalism. Chairman of All Kachin Youth Union (AKYU) Hangkum Lum Zawng, gave a speech about Youth & Politics, as well as Chairperson of KSYA, Seng Nu Pan shared the topic about Youth and Freedom of Expression.

KSPP was formed last year by merging four different Kachin political parties; Kachin Democratic Party (KDP), Kachin State Democracy Party (KSDP), Kachin National Congress (KNC) and Union and Democracy Party of Kachin State (UDPKS). The current leader of KSPP is Dr. Manam Tu Ja and Interim Vice Chairman is Gumgrawng Awng Hkam.

KSDP was the only Kachin political party which won a seat in Kachin State during the 2015 election. Aung San Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy (NLD) won majority of seats in Kachin State.
