Kachin women activist met UN Rapporteur

A Kachin women activist Ms. Nang Pu has met UN Special Rapporteur on Burma Ms. Yanghee Lee in Geneva, Switzerland, discussing to promote human rights violations and crime against humanity committed by Burma Army.

Both of them met over the weekends amidst of the forty second session of UN Human Rights Council as Nang Pu is one of the participant of UN conference.

Nang Pu, a prominent activist from Kachin State capital Myitkyina, was arrested and sentenced to six month prison term after she was involved in a leading role of anti-war demonstration in April 2018.

In February, Nang Pu was awarded Schumann Award by the European Union for her work in defence of democracy, rule of law and human rights. She is a Director of the Htoi Gender and Development Foundation in Burma.
