World Kachin Congress (WKC), which represents Kachin communities around the world, has raised serious concerned over the recent Burma Army’s legal action against a prominent Kachin Baptist leader Rev. Dr. Hklam Samson.
“To immediately drop all charges against Reverend Dr. Samson,” demanded by WKC in a statement released yesterday. The organization also urged international communities to pressure Burmese government to hold the Burma Army accountable for crime against humanity and genocide.
Burma Army recently file a legal complaint against Rev. Samson of Kachin Baptist Convention regarding his remarks about religious persecution and human rights violation committed by Burma Army. Samson also thanks United States for imposing sanction against Burma Army Commander-in-Chief Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing and three other top Generals during his participation in an Oval Office meeting with U.S President Donald Trump last month.
Rev. Samson has been ordered to appear in Myitkyina Township Court on September 9, after he was file a complaint by Lt. Col. Than Htike of Burma Army’s Northern Command.
“Burma Army still sees Freedom of Expression as a crime and always threaten to anyone who speaks the truth, said John La Seng, a founding and steering committee member of the World Kachin Congress. “There is no place to express the truth in Burma.”
World Kachin Congress was officially founded last year by Kachin leaders from over twenty countries around the world. It’s a Kachin conglomerate organization destined to save Kachinland from foreign rulers.
