A Kachin Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camp near the headquarter of Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) on the Chinese border was hit by the landslide caused by the flash flood, damaging over a dozen houses and killing a person.
Fifteen homes were damaged and a women was died from the Maga Yang IDP camp yesterday, according the the camp residents. The camp residents who lost their homes were relocated to the local Church.
Maga Yang IDP camp is a home for almost 3000 people, according to the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
More than half of over a hundred thousands Kachin IDPs live along the Chinese border since 2011.
