Almost two hundred swine were died within a single day in Daw Phone Yang township of eastern Kachin State in northern Burma.
Locals from villages around the Daw Phone Yang were shocked that the sudden-mass mortality event of their domestic pigs at the end of last month.
“I have five pigs in my house, three of them died in the afternoon and the other two died later,” Kareng Zau Naw, a villager from Daw Phone Yang told The Kachin Post. My neighbours’ pigs also died, he added.
Zau Naw said he has never seen like pigs were dying off instantly. Local health authorities were investigation on the incident and taking blood samples from the dead swine. Most of the dead swine were shown the symptom of bleeding from the mouth.
Locals are puzzled that the unknown cause of the mass morality event of domestic pigs. Daw Phone Yang is located about 100 miles south of Kachin State capital Myitkyina.
