Burma Army Intensify Persecution against Christian

Burma Army has filed legal action against Kachin Christian leader yesterday, mounting up persecution against the country’s minority Kachin Christian.

Lt. Colonel Than Htike of Burma Army’s Northern Command has prosecuted the Chairman of Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) Dr. Rev. Hkalam Samson, regarding the meeting with U.S President Donald Trump and the KBC leader last month in the White House, according to the court documents circulating in the social media network. The document labelled the incident as “extra ordinary” case.

During the meeting with President Trump, Dr. Samson expressed the worsening situation of religious persecution against Christians committed by Burma Army in Kachin and Shan States as well as welcoming the U.S sanction against Burma Army’s top Generals.

In July 2019, Rev. Samson was the one of the invitees of U.S President Donald Trump in the Oval Office along with other international religious leaders. Rev. Samson also attended the International Religious Freedom Conference which was hosted by the U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. He safely returned back to Burma in August, 2019.


KBC Chairman met U.S Vice President’s advisor

Rev. Dr. Hkalam Samson, the Chairman of Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC), met with an U.S Vice President Mike Pence’s advisor yesterday at the White House.

Mr. Nicolas J.C Snyder, a special advisor to the U.S Vice President for East Asia, Southeast Asia and Pacific, discussed with KBC Chairman along with Kachin Alliance leader Mr. Nsang Gum San, regarding the situation in the context of religious persecution in Burma. The Kachin group also met with Mr. Pence’s deputy assistant, Sara E. Markin during the meeting, according the Kachin Alliance.

This is the second time Dr. Samson and his fellow Pastor Langjaw Gam Seng met with high-ranking U.S government officials. Last month, both of them met with U.S President Donald Trump in the Oval Office in the White House, expressing the concern of religious persecution committed by Burma Army. Pastor Gam Seng, who was from Mong Ko town in Northern Burma on the Chinese border, was tortured and later imprisoned by Burma Army for leading the journalist to a Church reportedly destroyed by military air strike in 2016.

In the same day on August 8, the Kachin group also met with Ambassador Sam Brownback, Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, and Ambassador Mrs. Kelly E. Currie, an Acting U.S Ambassador to United Nations.

Rev. Dr. Hkalam Samson is the first ever Kachin leader who met with U.S President Donald Trump in person in the history. Kachin Baptist Convention runs over 400 Churches across the country and has over 400,000 members mostly are ethnic Kachin in Burma. The organization was established in 1910 with help of American Baptist Missionaries.


Stop drone sales to Burma Army; Kachin Alliance

United States based Kachin Alliance, a Kachin lobby group, urged European Union (E.U) to investigate Austria based company Schiebel to stop selling drones to Burma Army.

“We strongly urged the E.U to immediately investigate Schiebel sale of Camcopter S-100 to Myanmar.” said in the statement released by Kachin Alliance. “Reprimand Schiebel’s if they have breached E.U armed embargo.”

In early of August 2019, Burma Army reportedly confirmed the procurement of Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS). However, Schiebel claimed that the Camcopter were used for civilians in mining, forestry and infrastructure developments.

Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS) is reportedly used by Burma Army and Navy. It is also reportedly used Burma Army’s special military operation in Kachin and Shan States of Norther Burma.

Kachin Alliance also request E.U to establish preventive measure to block future flows of arms and advance technology to Burma Army, infamous in committing war crimes and genocide during the military operation against insurgents groups along the frontier regions.

Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS) is capable of using in military and civilian applications with the ability of vertical takeoff and landing without prepared area or support launch. The Camcopter is able to operate day and night under adverse weather conditions with a range of 200 kilometres, both on land and at sea.

Kachin rebel FM can be listened around the world via Myanmar E-Radio App.

Purely Kachin (Jinghpaw) language Liza FM can be listened live around the world as it was one the radio station listed in the Myanmar E-Radio App, which can be downloaded from both iOS and Android.

Laiza FM was started launching around October 2012 by Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), which is fighting for Independence Kachinland in Northern Myanmar. Laiza FM is stationed in KIO headquarter Laiza, about 100 Kilometres Southeast of Kachin State capital Myitkyina.

Laiza FM broadcasts mostly battle news between Burma Army and Kachin Independence Army, the armed wing of KIO, as well as many popular Kachin songs. Laiza FM is believed to be the first ever Kachin language FM station.
