WBA hosting Kachin youth conference

Waimaw Baptist Association (WBA) is hosting a youth conference today in Waimaw Township, expecting to turn out a thousand Kachin youth from all over Kachin State.

The five-days conference is to raise political awareness for Kachin youth and encourage youth to involve in politics, said Gunhtang Nang Htang, one of the conference organizing committee member. Youth from Eastern side of Irrawaddy river need to educate more to speak out what’s really happening in their communities because there is more war refugees and human rights abuses are taking place in surrounding area.

The youth will be meditated on various topics ranging from Bible study to politics. Rev. Labya Paul Naw Tawng will discuss about Independence Nation, Ningran Tu Nan will talk about Youth & Marriage, Jangmaw Nang Hpung will host a Special Talk and Zaudan Bawm Ying will explain about the future and stand of Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC).

This is the 8th WBA youth conference which hold every four year in Waimaw Township, which is situated across the Irrawaddy river from Kachin State capital Myitkyina. WBA also runs Bible Seminary in its compound, accommodating hundreds of students.

Waimaw Baptist Association is one of the sixteen associations under Kachin Baptist Convention.
